A Sanctuary & Haven for Animals

Chundukwa River Lodge is not only a haven for people but also a sanctuary for all animals – wild and domestic. Elephants have frequented the property since before time… there are no fences to impede their movements. They come and go as they please having much needed access to water and to their usual migration routes between Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Doug and Gail adore their animals and dedicate much time to wildlife conservation, including rehabilitating orphans and rescues. If you are interested you can visit the farmyard to meet the menagerie of donkeys, goats, sheep, chickens and even miniature horses.  We find it’s always great fun for children to feed the horses carrots. We also have 2 very well-behaved dogs and 2 adopted cats.
