What you can do at Chundukwa

Being situated 25 km from the historic town of Livingstone, Chundukwa River Lodge provides easy access to the spectacular Victoria Falls, but remains far enough away to make it the perfect, tranquil retreat from bustling tourist centres. However, the essence of the Chundukwa experience really comes through in the combination of our in house activities and Vic Falls encounter.

Experience the Zambezi

Our location on the banks of the Zambezi River upstream from Victoria Falls allows guests a fantastic opportunity to experience the mighty Zambezi. From sunset cruises, birding excursions both on land and water, horse rides, photographic explorations, game viewing or simply taking in the incredible sights and beautiful sunset and sunrise, this is a river that needs to experienced.

Victoria Falls Day Trip

Chundukwa is the only Livingstone lodge to offer you a private guide and private vehicle to explore and visit the Victoria Falls. No set time departures, no waiting for the late risers – you are free to spend as much time as you want to experience the world’s largest waterfall and surrounding attractions.

Ride Zambezi Horse Trails

For those of you who love and want to ride horses. We have a large stable yard with horses for all levels of riders in our stables. Enjoy a morning or afternoon hour and half or do a more extensive ride with us. We have special rides for kidsDuring the Polo Crosse season (March to September) the Livingstone Polo Crosse club, which is on our premises, gathers together for practice every Sunday. You are welcome to take a walk up to the fields to join us or hire a horse and play!

For more information, please see the Ride Zambezi page.

Engage in Local Culture

Mukay Village is home to most of our team at the lodge and has about 300 residents in total. Alex, our head waiter, is very happy to show guests around the Village and impart some local knowledge on their building techniques, cuisine, traditions and of course the local brew! The funds raised from the tour go back to the village and have already enabled us to bring a reliable supply of water into the village with help from our neighbours. There is also a small community pre-school that we support that you are welcome to visit.

If you would like to bring learning aids for the school, please see our link to Pack for a Purpose.

Make use of our exceptional bird watching opportunities -over 100 species of birds including the African Fin Foot and the Livingstone Taraco only found in this area.
