Chundukwa River Lodge Activities

Victoria Falls
Day Trip
Utilize your private vehicle and guide to take you to Victoria Falls and explore Livingstone.
No set time departures, no waiting for the late risers – you are free to spend as much time as you want to experience the world’s largest waterfall and surrounding attractions.

River Cruises
Our location on the banks of the Zambezi River upstream from Victoria Falls allows guests a fantastic opportunity to experience and relax on the mighty Zambezi.
A sunrise or sunset cruise is included in all our packages. Speciality cruises can be arranged for those with particular interests, such as photography.

Horse Trails
We have a large stable yard with horses for all levels of riders, and options for children. Horse-riding packages are available too.
Livingstone Polo Crosse Club is also on our premises – You are welcome to take a walk up to the fields to join us or hire a horse and play!
For more information see Ride Zambezi Horse Trails

Birding
Cross some of the rarer birds off your list – over 180 species of birds have been spotted here, including the African Fin Foot and the Livingstone Turaco.
Bird watch from your chalet overlooking the river or from our gardens. If you’re keen to learn more, we offer a land and water birding trip guided by a local expert.

Tracking the White Rhino
Embark on a guided walking safari in our local Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in search of the rare and endangered White Rhinos.
Spectacular to be able to view these and other game whilst on foot, and learn about the bush.

Engage in Local Culture
Visit our nearest village ‘Muke Village’, home to most of our team at the lodge. A chance to meet some members of the community, and learn about the local building techniques, cuisine, traditions and of course the local brew!
A visit to the small community pre-school that we support is always fun too – for the students and the visitors!

Markets & Shopping
For a real taste of the local markets in Zambia, visit the Maramba or Dambwa Markets, where everything, from chickens and tomatoes to nuts and bolts, can be purchased.
There are also 2 craft markets in the area, where you can shop and bargain for batiks, carved animals, basket-ware and jewellery.

Historical Tours
Utilise your private guide to show you the historical sights of Livingstone, and explore the museums. The Livingstone Museum is worth a trip even if you are not usually a fan of museums. The information on Dr David Livingstone is well presented and includes several artefacts donated by members of his family – as well as a suitable amount of dust to make it look authentic! There is also a Railway Museum in town, as well as an Art Gallery to peruse.

Family Fun
All generations can enjoy the gardens and farmyard at Chundukwa. Children love visiting our stables to feed carrots to the miniature horses and donkeys, or be lead out on a ‘pony tale’ or learn to fish local-style in our dams. Visits to the village are popular with our younger visitors too – as well as hours spent in the swimming pool!
